After having been trained for the missionary mission he traveled to Congo in 1892
where he then for 40 years carried out considerable pioneering work for the Christian
doctrine and for the civilization. During his short visits to his native country of Sweden
he took an active part in the work at Skallsjö Mission Covenant Church.
S A Flodén in Congo
Svante August changed his last name to Flodén and was generally
called "Tata Flodén".
He was married three times - the first two wives died in Africa - and
had four children,
of whom only one lived to be an adult.
Svante August wrote quite a bit of poetry and also published a couple
of books on his
years in Africa.
